Painting En Plein Air using Oils or Acrylics
Explore and deepen your understanding of how to paint a landscape on the spot, in the moment, outdoors! Enjoy the sunshine, the fresh air and create beautiful painting.
During this 5hr workshop Jeanette will demonstrate how she chooses a scene and composition, sets up a painting and how it develops from rough layout to a more finished painting. You will be working on your own piece inspired by the landscapes of Eramosa Karst Conservation Area.
Some previous painting experience is helpful. This is a class for adults (16 yrs and over).
Suggested Supplies to bring:
a field easel
your medium of choice (oil or acrylic)
appropriate work-surface(s) (wood panel is easiest to work on when outdoors, but a canvas can work
brushes
odourless cleaning/thinning materials as needed if using oils
If working in acrylics; a little spray bottle with water to keep your paints from drying out too fast is helpful as well as a wet palette.
If working with a limited palette you will want to bring: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Quinacridone Red, Manganese or Cobalt Blue,Raw Umber and Yellow Ochre
You might also want to bring some sunscreen, bug spray, a bottle of water - or other drink - and some lunch.
